This treatment effectively reduces the appearance of wrinkles caused by the ageing process, damage from the sun and other environmental toxins, for example smoking. Facial expressions such as laughter and frowning contribute to crows feet, forehead and frown lines, which can give a stressed appearance. The treatment can soften and eliminate wrinkles by temporarily paralysing the facial muscles, and is one of the most effective non-surgical procedures for smoothing expression lines. Excessive sweating of armpits/palms of hands may also be treated using this type of injection. A bacteria used to produce a certain substance works by blocking a chemical, which is used to transmit electrical impulses, responsible for muscle contraction. By preventing the muscles from moving, it keeps the lines from appearing.

WHAT TO EXPECT
The treatment takes approximately up to 72 hours to work, and after 1-3 weeks the effect is optimum. There may be mild swelling immediately after the injections, which should subside within 24-48 hours, but it is recommended not to lie down for at least 4 hours. It will then last for approximately 3-4 months, and for as long as 9-12 months if used for sweating. The skin will appear much smoother and relaxed after treatments, and once this appearance gradually fades, then another treatment may be required. For extremely heavy lines, the maximum effect is obtained by repeating the process.
