Sometimes when creams and lotions are not sufficient, but having surgery seems too drastic, a dermal filler may help to achieve a younger and smoother complexion. Dermal fillers are injected into the areas which need to be made to look firmer and plumped up, and then naturally dissolves over time. This extremely popular product has particles which add volume and soften the creases of the skin, plus it contains hyaluronic acid. This ingredient, used to keep the skin smooth, is found naturally in large amounts throughout our bodies when we are young. As we age, this amount decreases causing our skin to loose the ability to retain moisture.

WHAT TO EXPECT
After a treatment, you may develop redness which is likely to disappear within hours after the treatment. The swelling should settle in 3-7 days and any red treated areas should not be exposed to intense heat. We also recommend that you massage the injected area over the first 48 hours. Both dermal fillers and wrinkle relaxing treatments can be complementary to one another, and are of benefit in obtaining a more rejuvenated look following some facial surgery. Bruising, although somewhat unlikely may develop after a treatment, for which a cream maybe recommended for reducing the effects of such bruising. This can be discussed fully during your consultation.

INFORMATION FOLLOWING TREATMENT WITH RESTYLANE

Do Not Wash the area of treatment or apply make up until at least 8 hours after treatment
Do Not Subject the area treated to extreme temperatures (ie too hold or too cold showers)
Do Massage the area of treatment 3-4 times per day over the first 48 hours
